Download files for the current date

I was wondering if someone could please help. I need to write a automated script which downloads all the files from the remote directory for the current date to my local directory. I have searched the whole site but cannot find this or any examples.

I have looked at the keepuptodate command but this is not what I want as this synchronises the remote and local directory. The files are to be copied into individual folders as a batch process in a nightly job.
