Script reports "Software caused connection abort", GUI works

Every few days, my script keeps failing and pages me because it was unable to connect to the host. I read all the possibilities off this website and I can rule out anything to do with my network, or firewall.

Here is what happens:
1) The script below works fine most of the time, it is set to run in a batch file once a day. On certain days, it just fails to connect no matter how many times I set it to retry in a DOS batch loop. I run the script like so: winscp.exe /console /script=script.scp. The error I get is " Network error: Software caused connection abort". I have searched and tried every single recommendation on this site to resolve this issue but I am not able to. I strongly suspect it has something to do with running through the console.

2) For whatever reason, since day one, it never connects on the first try, it always takes the 2nd try to connect whether it's through the WinSCP GUI, or through the script.
3) What is strange is that I am ALWAYS able to connect using the GUI on the 2nd try (Reconnect) after it tells me " Network error: Software caused connection abort" on the first try.

3) Why is this? Why can I connect through the GUI, but no matter how many times I try, the console script won't work?

option batch ignore
option confirm off
option echo on
option transfer ascii
open Moneris
get -preservetime *ASDF* D:\Files\
get -preservetime *TEST* D:\Files\
option transfer binary
get -preservetime *TESTBIN* D:\Files\
close
exit

Log file when the script just doesn't connect:

Re: Script reports "Software caused connection abort", GUI works

Have you tried to turn off the firewall temporarily?

Have you tried the latest beta version?

Have you checked the server's log?

3) Why is this? Why can I connect through the GUI, but no matter how many times I try, the console script won't work?
It can be simply caused by GUI being slightly slower, hence not triggering the cause of the problem (whatever it is).

I have this same issue..
Version : WinSCP Version 4.1.9 (Build 416) (OS 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2)

It is on a production server and Firewall is confirmed to allow everything for WinSCP.. I also tried a command more winscp from the server and it worked.. It does not work in batch program.

Please read FAQ. If that does not help, come back.

We have since upgraded to the 4.24 beta and it has definitely resolved our problems. Successful connections are made on the first attempt all the time, whether in batch mode or from the GUI.

So it appears that there was some bug fix or code change made in the beta that has resolved this issue for me.

Thank you.

We have upgraded to latest version 4.2.5 and resolved this issue, in last week of Dec 2009. All attempts were successful when tried to connect through the batch programs..

Somehow the new version got it fixed... Thanks.
