"No supported authentication methods" when saving file

WinSCP works great for connecting and transferring files to an EC2 Instance. I can both upload and download without problem. The problem occurs if I try to right click a file in the EC2 instance and edit it without transferring it down. The file opens, but I get the error when I try to save it. Tried both PSPad and the Internal Editor, both have the same problem.

The error does say "Unable to use key file ("C:\users......\tmp5AC9.tmp" (unable to open file) so perhaps the "save" process is trying to access a key the main session has locked?

Running on Windows 7, and SCP 5.7 (Build 5125)

But the "C:\users......\tmp5AC9.tmp" does not look like a path to a key. Or is it?

Please attach a full log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).

To generate log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

As you note, I do not believe that tmp file is a key, and I am not clear why it is using such. I can upload a file without problem, so I assume keys are working, but when I EDIT a file and try to save it fails.

I am launching SCP through Visual Studio, which is feeding the key information to SCP. I tried overwriting the file by uploading twice, which worked. Don't know why SCP is trying a different authentication when saving then when copying...

Thanks again for your help! It's not critical, but I like things to work, and hope I am helping.

How is VS feeding key information to WinSCP?

WinSCP is run like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\WinSCP\WinSCP.exe" scp://XXXXXX /privatekey="C:\Users\s.ostenberg\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp66F4.tmp"

I assume the temporary file disappears before you try to save the file.
