1. Run WinSCP
   
2. Connect to a server (SSH/SFTP, if that matters)
   
3. Double click a remote file to open it in an Editor (mine opens in Notepad2-mod, but I don't think which Editor matters)
   
4. Make a change & Save the file (maybe not necessary, but just for example)
   
5. Disconnect your Internet (do something to lose connection to the server {like unplug your network cable or disconnect from WiFi [or just wait for your ISP to flake out]})
   
6. Wait for WinSCP to notice the disconnection & it will try to reconnect (or poke around {click Refresh in the Remote file list} & help it notice)...it might also stop trying to reconnect & say something like "Host doesn't exist"
   
7. Reconnect your Internet (reconnect your network cable or reconnect to WiFi)
   
8. In WinSCP click Reconnect
   
9. In WinSCP, double click to open a 2nd Notepad of the same file you were editing before the reconnect (leave the original Notepad open)
   
10. In the 2nd copy of Notepad, make a change & save the file
    
11. WinSCP will say something about it can't save the file cuz the connection was already closed (sorry, I don't have the exact error msg at the moment)
    
12. In the 2nd copy of Notepad, make another change & save the file again
    
13. WinSCP will say it's not able to save (again)
    
14. Close the 2nd Notepad
    
15. Focus the 1st Notepad, make a change & save

This is when I got the "Invalid access to memory." error with the Stack trace. I guess when WinSCP reconnects, it doesn't re-associate already-open files with the newly-reconnected session?

I would fix this 2 ways...


1. When a session disconnects, I would flag any open files as being associated with a disconnected session, so if any of them are saved/updated, I would display a msg telling the user that, telling them to reconnect to the same server to be able to upload the changes. Also, if WinSCP is closed, I would flag any changed-but-not-uploaded files to NOT BE DELETED...I would save info about which connection they are related to, so they can be uploaded when a connection to the same server is made.
   
2. When the same session is reconnected, I would re-associate any still-opened files with the newly-reconnected session. This should avoid the "Invalid access to memory" error, since at no time would I be accessing invalid memory.
