The problem happens rarely. I cannot reproduce it.

Just clicked on .. to go one folder up. I was connected using SSH certificate. It was around 2 hours after a wakeup from computer sleep.

Invalid access to memory - _ssh_send_port_open

click on an open tab for a session that has lost network connection (ie due to timeout or system hibernation), get error dialogue -'Network Error: Software caused connection abort', clicking on reconnect button sometimes causes the error below. WinSCP keeps running and can continue to connect successfully after the error

Error changing directory to '..' - _ssh_send_port_open

i was editing a file and saving it. when net went down. when I was saving further changes, it said connection closed. try starting a new session and save file again.

when network came back again, I clicked change directory to reactivate the session. and then the error occured

Error changing directory to '/cluster/nigeldyer/Course/assignment/courseFastq_OK_-1' - _ssh_send_port_open

I had been using winSCP for a couple of hours, including doing some big data transfers, quite succesfully. I then left it open and did nothing with it for a couple of hours, returned and tried changing to a different directory on the remote machine, and the error message appeared. It keeps throwing up the error when I try changing directory until I restart the session

After leaving my computer unattended for any length of time, typically after a couple of hours, when I return to the computer, I get the error message "invalid access to memory" when I try to perform any action like changing a directory, and I have to restart the application. Error changing directory to '..' - _ssh_send_port_open

I was in another window for a few minutes, and when I brought WinSCP back into focus I noticed the path that is usually shown above to current remote directory was blank. Then, I double clicked on where the path would be and got the error message. This is the first time this has happened.

I've powered off a virtual box machine and this messaged popped.
There were no operations in the background on that machine.
WinSCP was not utilized at that moment (nor it had tasks pending/backgorund)

after the inet connection went out/ broke down putty went inactive. Thats unfortunate but no problem. But winscp doesn't let me change directories now by clicking on another branch of the directory tree. all the best!

Had been editing the same file in the background (Notepad++) for about an hour, without focusing the WinSCP window. Probably saved about 30 - 50 times. Suddenly realized WinSCP was complaining about being unable to save the file remotely.

I tried to press the folder up icon, and it stopped working! Just around that time I had closed Atom text editor which often crashes when I close it. The Atom editor had a python file from the remote machine, opened on my computer.

Error changing directory to '..' - _ssh_send_port_open

Doubled clicked on the remotes .. (navigate up 1 level in the folder tree) on an instance of WinSCP which I left open overnight but the remote had probably disconnected the session (this was the first action I took)

WinSCP 5.9.3

Error message:
