GetFiles rename during transfer

Is it possible to configure the getfiles .net function to temporarily rename the source file while it's downloading? I know winscp names it .filepart on the destination, I'm looking for the same with the source filename.

The purpose is to stop the file being picked up by several download instances.

No WinSCP does not support that. But you can rename the file programmatically yourself.
