WebDAV support in WinSCP

WebDAV support in WinSCP

I'm missing WEBDAV (WEBDAVS) client for windows. I'll really appreciate if WinSCP offered support also for this protocol.

Please Offer WebDav

WebDav would really round out the capabilities of WINSCP. With all the Collaboration servers that are being installed - more and more of my work is done through Webdav.

WinSCP is great...but I need to transfer files using webdav

so, I hope that (not too far away) winscp will support webdav. (at least basic funcion (list directory, copy files))

I'm wanting to use it with my University's Netfiles program. It's been a while since this post has last been visited, I'm wondering if there is any progress that has been made?

Is there some work going on?

A lot of things in the tracker exists and are on status NEW but no change for a long time.

So as I said before webdav (with basic/digest auth) and via https... would be awesome.

Really needed

With such an awesome client that WinSCP has become, WebDAV and WebDAVS would be an awesome addition. Many of the current clients out there really suck, in a word. They're either outdated, shaky, or just plain silly.

With collaboration suites, other than MS becoming more and more standard, WebDAV* support would enhance the user's functionality quite a bit.

As a next-level, mapping up a drive letter would be sweet.

It's a real shame Microsoft din't "get it" for such a long time with WebDAV, it would have made a big difference.

Still a very highly needed feature.

I guess when Filezilla implements webdav and webdavs it'll be very quickly available in winscp.

But in the filezilla forum it's the same long thread as it's here.

Anyway, keep on the good work, and I look forward to webdav...

please implement dav for winscp. how can i help test?

please, please, please, please, someone implment webdav for winscp. if it's not a top priority it should be. countless people need a simple way to pass files over the web and windows frankly is just terrible at dav - even in seven.

winscp could CHANGE THE WORLD by implementing DAV!!!!

how can i help test??

Hi Martin!

I'd also like to voice my support for WebDAV in WinSCP.

I work on Tiki, a full-featured, open source, multilingual, all-in-one Wiki+CMS+Groupware written in PHP. We recently added support for WebDAV:

The goal is to give a double-click edit and save interface to access files, instead of the cumbersome download, edit, save locally and re-upload.

Possibly there is some code that could be re-used coming from Cyberduck, another GPL project:

Actually, adding WebDAV support to WinSCP it could became my ultimate file transfer tool... I could not only SFTP on my servers, but I could also access a lot of webdav resources, like Dropbox through DropDAV <invalid hyperlink removed by admin> !!!

please add this feature!!!

PS: how to use? Uhm, just as any other protocol like ftp/scp

Only the connection is different. (or am I wrong?)

But as I saw from the sourcecode, winscp uses oensource for ftp I think from filezilla and they don't support da. Therefore when they do winscp will do ;)

How to use webdav

Again I still don't get th equestion to wich service I want to connect.

It's the same question when you ask "To wich ftp servers do you want to connect"

Webdav is just another protocol, and servers are several, for example all of my 10 domains I'm admin for are using webdav for images and content.
Also lot of web-hosters like 1&1 or alfahosting are providing webdav features.

So webdav is widely used.

Also e.g. svn hosts do have webdav autocommit (sometimes)

So, just webdav as the spec. says would be fine (and afterwards some finetuning)

so http or https; server and port, and maybe some username/password in basic or digest auth.

Anything missing?

About WebDAV

I am glad to hear that support for WebDAV is planned, since more and more services offer no FTP but WebDAV only. For WebDAV now I use the no longer developed/abandoned BitKinex and the java-based AnyClient since I do not like the interface of Cyberduck. So I am impatient to see the WebDAV support implemented in WinSCP, which will make it even more powerful and universal (it will lack only S3 support). Many thanks to Martin Prikryl for working on WebDAV support.

Please start a new thread for this issue and attach a session log file (set Session.SessionLogPath).

I suppose it's great for those who like WinSCP and need to use WebDAV, but had to use other clients for WebDAV until now.

I understand. But what does WebDAV functionality add? I read the Wikipedia page about Webdav but I don't see how i can use it in daily practise, using Winscp (or any other Webdav client).

Well, if your server supports WebDAV only, your have to use it.
