Dreamweaver is the opposite and shows the plus sign unless found that the directory is empty.

OK I see. WinSCP does not show the plus sign, unless it know that the directory contains subdirectories. And it does not know that unless you have browsed into the directory before. Otherwise it would have to load whole tree on login, what would take lot of time.

Right now a + sign (at least for me) is only displayed after the directory has been opened meaning that I have browsed into the directory directly.

I would like if I could click the + sign and have the tree update (showing files and directories) without navigating away from where I am into that folder.

Maybe a screenshot of dreamweaver would help:

Can you explain this? I do not understand what's the difference of your plus sign comparing to existing plus sign (apart from your first proposal to show also files).

Feature Request - Directory Tree

Just like in Dreamweaver CS3 I think it would be great if the files could shown in the directory tree and not only the directories (or if it was an option to show them). I would also love if there were + signs next to each directory on the remote side again like dreamweaver in order to just view the files inside the directory and/or edit them without necessarily browsing into it. I use dreamweaver for coding sometimes but prefer using winscp along with a text editor I purchased.
