This addition is great, very useful.
I would only add a 'view only' on F3 like GNU midnight commander.

Thanks

why not let programs access the files? such as an html editor on your local machine. if you want to edit remote html files, the html editor can browse, just like to a local or networked file, to a file with winscp, edit, then save.

I guess i could have said it better to have the ability to be like sshfs in linux's lufs. you basically, through scp, mount a remote dir as a local share through ssh.

i think sshfs is more like sftp, but it works well, as a local fs.

Integrated Viewer/Editor Needed

My desired solution would be this:

- Add "Edit" button to WinSCP.

- Download the file and open an editor as defined in the registry or prompt and/or use a default editor.

- Watch the file for changes (Is this at all possible under Windows?) and prompt for upload when a change is detected. (Ideal: A small window in the bottom-right corner of the window that doesn't steal the editor's focus.)

- Alternative: Watch the editor program until it terminates, then prompt for upload.

ABSOLUTELY ... This is the only drop-dead issue for me with WinSCP. The lack of an integrated viewer/editor means I still have to keep LEAPFtp around for a lot of tasks. I'd just as soon not have to.

Re: remote view and edit

I would like to second tihs request... ideally with some method to associate a desired editor with the edit function.

remote view and edit

Is it possible to integrate remote view and edit? I use Winscp to change php scripts and it would be more user friendly to copy the remote file automatically to a temp dir and store it back.
Examples for this feature are Ws_ftp or ssh+midnight commander.

Thanks in advance
