So the reason I thought things had maybe changed was that the Winget packages show your name:

There is a bit of a process to upload items using Winget:

Maybe SourceForge is uploading these on your behalf? I would find it quite strange if someone is impersonating what is quite a well-known project!

Jim, as I have stated in the linked post previously, we have no control over those winget packages.

Winget RC Packages

Hi,

I install a lot of my applications using Winget. I noticed that there is a winget package named "WinSCP.WinSCP" which is up to date with version "6.5.6". However I also note that there is a package "WinSCP.WinSCP.RC".

I was looking to install WinSCP version "6.6.2" in order to configure the new OpenSSH functionality. This feature worked perfectly fine when I used the download available on the "All Downloads" page.

However, the latest available "WinSCP.WinSCP.RC" edition is "5.18.5-" which is quite old. I'd really appreciate it if the Winget RC package was updated to reflect what RCs are available.

I did notice that someone brought this WinSCP.WinSCP package to your attention back in 2024 (Winget WinSCP.WinSCP package reflecting 6.3.2 version still, should raised to 6.3.3) because it was out of date and I do note that the package is subsequently updated now – despite martin's post on this matter at the time.

I would also say that "winget" is now provided as standard on Windows for package management - no longer do we need to use choco, scoop or any other CLI-ized deliciously unhealthy food item to install Windows software.

PS: I've used WinSCP on and off now for decades, thank you so much for your dedication on the project!
