Re: WinSCP 6.5 running much longer than 6.3.7

Ok, please let me know, if the problem ever comes back.

Re: WinSCP 6.5 running much longer than 6.3.7

I can no longer duplicate this issue. The directory I was listing no longer has enough files in it. Using a directory on a different server does not have the same problem. It may be related to that particular server or possibly that the server with the problem was out of my network.

If you have WinSCP installed to the standard location, just bring up Windows Run dialog (Win+R) and parste this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\WinSCP\WinSCP.exe" /applog=C:\some\path\app.log

Btw, are those all files or (sub)folders? Are they right in the first directory that opens when you connect? Or do you have to browse there? Is this only about the right/remote side? Or do you have a lot of files/folder in the local folder too? I do not experience any difference between remote file loading between 6.3 and 6.5.

Re: WinSCP 6.5 running much longer than 6.3.7

There was no significant difference in time with 6.3.7" – comparing to what? The 88,000 vs. 245,000? Or 6.3.7 vs 6.5?

it was 6.3.7 ran 4 minutes with both 88,000 and 245000.

I've been testing this on my windows 11 laptop which I don't bring home with me. By the time I get to my office again (probably tomorrow) the directory will be back to close to normal size and I might not be able to see the problem anymore. If there is still a difference, I can try again with rotate logs turned off but I don't know how to start from the command line.

Re: WinSCP 6.5 running much longer than 6.3.7

Thanks. Though I need complete logs. Please disable log rotation (if you have it enabled). Also, please start both WinSCP versions with /applog=C:\some\path\app.log command-line parameter and send me these logs too (in addition to session logs from the same execution).

Re: WinSCP 6.5 running much longer than 6.3.7

About the logs. The 6.5 only ran 52 minutes today instead of 2 hours but there were only 88,000 files in the directory instead of the 245,000 that were there last week. There was no significant difference in time with 6.3.7

Thanks for your report.
Can you post logs from both versions?

WinSCP 6.5 running much longer than 6.3.7

Version 6.5 has the problem, before it was 6.3.7.
Running on Windows 11 laptop
Using SFTP in Commander mode.
I connected to a server using SFTP to list a large directory (approx 245000 files). With 6.3.7 it takes under 4 minutes. With 6.5 it took 2 hours.
