If you want confirmations for background transfers, uncheck No confirmations for background transfers:

But even then if tramples ( copies over ) any file equally present .

That's a limitation of SCP. Switch to SFTP protocol for better behaviour.

Re: WinScp always overwrite when uploading an existing file

Please attach a full session log file showing the problem (using the latest version of WinSCP).

To generate the session log file, enable logging, log in to your server and do the operation and only the operation that causes the error. Submit the log with your post as an attachment. Note that passwords and passphrases not stored in the log. You may want to remove other data you consider sensitive though, such as host names, IP addresses, account names or file names (unless they are relevant to the problem). If you do not want to post the log publicly, you can mark the attachment as private.

WinScp always overwrite when uploading an existing file

As the title indicates WinScp always overwrite a remote file no matter what the defined "Transfer Settings" option | setting is defined.

Everytime that I try to upload a file, it is copied even if it is already present...

Tested all the existing flags and presets always with the same "copy always" behaviour.

Using the latest 5.17.7 version on Windows 10.

Although noticed that the timedate of the server is one hour earlier.
could it be the cause of this strange behaviour ?
